About Us

BlackCherry is an independent game studio and digital content company located in Ottawa, Canada. We love games and we love the internet. We also love animation, 3D, mobile and new technologies. That's a whole lotta love and that's what we put into every game we create.

Our games range from FLASH based RPG's to social games, mobile games and virtual worlds. We create games for entertainment and games for education. For every game we create, we follow a few simple rules: Make it fun, make it fun, make it fun.

King Rail Challenge

Trouble Inc.

Anywhere in the known Universe, if you've got Trouble, really big Trouble, you need Trouble Inc. Trouble Inc. is BlackCherry's virtual world for Tween boys (and girls). This MMO features an expansive 3D game experience and a rich story. Trouble Inc. is scheduled to launch in open beta, early in 2011.

Path of the Elders 'Knowledge Quest' RPG

In this rich RPG you can learn about traditional aboriginal culture while exploring a beautiful online environment. Paddle a canoe, hunt for moose or work a trap line. All up there are 6 entertaining mini-games that will provide hours of challenge and entertainment.

Ultimate Turtle Survival

Imagine you are a poor, little Blanding's Turtle living in a very cruel and dangerous world. Hazards are all around and you are seriously "at risk". BlackCherry Headed to GDC 2012

The BlackCherry team is honoured and excited to have been chosen to participate in the Canadian Videogame Showcase at GDC 2012 presented by Telefilm Canada in collaboration with the CMF. Held in March, in San Francisco, The Game Developer's Conference(GDC) is the world's largest professionals-only game industry event. BlackCherry is one of 20 companies in Canada to be selected to participate in the showcase. The event will offer opportunities for networking, business development and increased profile. Thanks to Telefilm Canada and the CMF for this amazing opportunity.

BlackCherry Named a 'Rising Star' in Ottawa

It's Entrepreneur week in Ottawa and it seems all the activity at BlackCherry has caught the attention of the Regional Innovation Centre. BlackCherry has been named one of the region's 'Rising Stars'. We are honored to be recognized and really appreciate all the help we've had over the years from OCRI and the RIC. BlackCherry Keeps Kids Real World Safe with Virtual World Experience

BlackCherry has won the contract to create an online Virtual Safety Village for kids. The creative team at BlackCherry is excited to be working with The Safe Communities Partnership of Sault Saint Marie on this ground-breaking online educational resource. The rich experience will teach kids how to stay safe and avoid real world dangers. The project is set to launch online and on iOS early in 2012.

First Encounters in Production

Following on the success of On the Path of the Elders, BlackCherry has begun work on another innovative educational resource in partnership with Carleton University. 'First Encounters' employs a mix of online role playing games, video and rich text content to answer compelling questions. What was it like to be one of the first Europeans to arrive in Canada and what was it like to be a First Nations person meeting these Europeans for the first time?

The management team of BlackCherry Digital Media Inc. is excited to announce they have received a $300K seed investment from Dowslake Venture Ltd. The funds will be used to move BlackCherry forward on its mobile and online product development efforts.

BlackCherry is seeking a Game Programmer for an upcoming contract position in our Ottawa game development studio. You must be available to work full-time in house. Education and experience combined with code samples will be key factors in our decision making process.

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
